How do I Reissue my SSL Certificate?

Once you receive your completed SSL Certificate, you will need to install it onto your server. Please click here for installation guides.

There are 3 SSL Certificate keys required for installing the SSL Certificate onto your server:

  • The Private Key. In most cases, this is located on the same server you used to create the CSR you used to place your order.
  • The public key. This is also known as the Certificate Key and is listed as SSL Certificate in your Trustico® account and the Fulfillment E-Mail you receive.
  • The intermediate key. This is also known as the bundle and is listed as Intermediate CA Certificates in your Trustico® account and the Fulfillment E-Mail you receive.

However, what happens if you install the SSL Certificate and later something happens to the server? Or if you need to install onto multiple servers? Or if you are installing the SSL Certificate but don’t have the required Private Key?

Normally, this would require you to create a new CSR/private key pair from your server. Since this new pair won’t match your current SSL Certificate, you will need to receive a matching SSL Certificate. This is done by re issuing your SSL Certificate.

All the SSL Certificates that Trustico currently offers come with issuance insurance included which means you can freely submit a re issue request for your SSL Certificate from your Trustico account.

To submit a re issue request, login to your Trustico® account. On your order click “View”, then the “Reissue Order” tab.

In this section, you will have the ability to submit a re issue request for your SSL Certificate. You will need to copy + paste your new CSR from your server into the large field provided.

Below that will be the area for the Reissue validation that will need to be completed once the Reissue request is submitted. The Approver E-Mail is automatically selected.

You will also have the option of selecting the email address listed on the order which will receive the new Fulfillment E-Mail – the admin contact e-mail address, the tech contact e-mail address and the Approver E-Mail address.

Once you are happy with your selections, click the ‘Reissue Order’ button at the bottom of the page to submit your reissue request. You can then complete the reissue validation.

Shortly after the reissue validation has been completed, the new SSL Certificate will be issued to you. The 2 new SSL Certificate keys will update in your Trustico® account for you to access. It will be listed in the SSL Certificate tab of your order.

The new SSL Certificate will also be sent to the Recipient Address you selected earlier.

You can install the new SSL Certificate onto your server as soon as you have accessed the 2 new SSL Certificate keys.
